Eligibility Criteria

* Residentship: Candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam. PRC issued in Assam for educational purpose or Employment Exchange Registration Certificate will be treated as proof of residency.

* Age Limit (As on 01.01.2026): Minimum 21 Years and Maximum 38 Years.

* Age Relaxation:

• OBC/MOBC: 3 Years (upto 41 Years)
• SC/ST: 5 Years (upto 43 Years)
• Ex-Servicemen (UR): Maximum 50 Years as on 01.01.2026

* Educational Qualification: Minimum qualification is Graduation in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government.

* Eye Sight: Minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction (without glasses).

Home and Political Department Recruitment 2026 | Selection Process

The selection process for APSC Home Guard Recruitment 2026 consists of the following stages:

* (i) Written Examination:

Paper-I covers General Mental Ability, General Science, Current Events of National and International Importance, Indian Polity and Economy, History of India and Indian and World Geography. Questions will be in English only.

Paper-II has two parts:

• Part-A: Essay (80 Marks) – can be written in Assamese or English.
• Part-B: Comprehension, Precis Writing and Language Skills (120 Marks) – English only.

There will be minimum qualifying marks separately in each paper as fixed by the Commission. Paper-I will be evaluated first. Paper-II will be evaluated only for those who qualify Paper-I.

* (ii) Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

Note: Pregnancy at the time of PET shall be a disqualification.

* (iii) Medical Standards Test: Conducted only for candidates who clear the PET.

* (iv) Interview / Personality Test: 50 Marks. Conducted by the Commission for candidates who clear the Medical Standards Test.

* (v) Final Selection: Merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test combined.
